Deadpool: Suicide Kings.

More Deadpool news! Marvel announced a five-part Deadpool limited series starting in April called Suicide Kings. It's got a different creative team, but Mike Benson is currently writing Moon Knight, and he's been doing a great job, so I am pretty excited about this. Who knew that in 2009, Marvel would be able to support TWO Deadpool books? I know I didn't see it coming.

Preview: Deadpool #7.

This was posted a couple of days ago on Marvel's site, but there's a preview of Deadpool #7. I read issue #6 last week and it just keeps getting better and better. I really like how this next issue's cover is a take-off on the classic cover to Uncanny X-Men #141, which is one of my all-time favorite comics. My advice is; if you're not picking this one up every month, go to the doctor to find out what's wrong with you, because it is excellent. Anyways, here are the preview pages:

Thunderbolts: Dark Reign.

There's really good interview with Andy Diggle about the new direction of the Thunderbolts book. Having recently read the entire Thunderbolts series, it's not surprising that the book is getting rebooted with a new roster, it seemed to happen once every two years during the life of the series. The idea behind the series kind of lends itself to happening, but it also makes it for a tough read all the way through, because it has been rebooted or re-rostered about 20 times already. With that being said, I like the way the last couple of issues have gone (even though you can see the storyline coming from a mile away) and the new roster/story looks pretty interesting.

One thing that I can't wait for, which is mentioned in the interview, is the Deadpool crossover. Yeah, that is going to be pretty awesome, because the two characters that I love the way they've been written lately are Norman Osborn and Wade Wilson. So it will be pretty interesting to see them in a cross-over together (although they probably won't be together in the same panel, well, maybe at the end Wade will finally get to Norman) and you throw in the bunch of misfits that make up the Thunderbolts, and I think it will be a pretty entertaining couple of issues.

Deadpool #5, Preview.

Alright, so Marvel posted a preview of Deadpool #5, which comes out on December 17th. Personally, I love the new Deadpool series, it's off to a great start and I think it's in great hands with Daniel Way at the helm. I have a couple of issues of Cable & Deadpool (I was a little late to the party on that one) and I've gotta say, I think Marvel did the right thing by splitting up that twosome into their own separate series. I've also gotta say that I'm pretty close to dropping Cable because it's SO boring. It's basically the exact opposite of the Deadpool series, which is funny, entertaining, clever, and just an enjoyable read every month. Nothing really happens in that Cable book. Man, is that a boring book.

Deadpool is rapidly becoming one of my favorite "B-Level" characters; the short-list goes something like, Moon Knight, Deadpool and Deathlok. I read on an interview with Axel Alonso on Myspace Comics (he took Joe Quesada's place this week) that he's been wanting to do a Deathlok story for a long time, and he also said that they're going to do that next year, and I couldn't be more excited. Pretty awesome.

Anyways, here's the art for Deadpool #5:

Daniel Way Q&A.

Here's a Q&A with Daniel Way. He mainly talks about the upcoming Deadpool series and his work the upcoming Wolverine: Origins/X-Men Legacy cross-over that sounds really interesting. I really wish he could have revealed a little more about Deadpool's involvement in the Secret Invasion cross-over, but I guess I'll have to buy the issue to find out. Man, I cannot wait for September 3rd.

Deadpool #1 Preview.

Marvel released a preview of Deadpool #1 today. Looks pretty awesome. Complete with a Rob Liefeld variant cover. The exciting thing is that it's written by Daniel Way, who has been writing quite possibly the funniest comic in the Marvel catalog; Wolverine: Origins, which just wrapped up a story-arc featuring Deadpool. So, I'm expecting all kinds of awesomeness. The only downside is that it's $3.99, but I'm hoping that it's because it's a double-sized issue. Marvel hasn't released a page-count on their website on the catalog page for the issue, but that has to be the reason. And it better not include any filler, like a reprint or ten pages of pinups. Anyways, here's the art:

Modern Age.

Pretty cool article over at Marvel about staff member's favorite characters from the last 20 years. Personally, I've gotta go with either Venom or Deadpool. Or another one that wasn't mentioned and is scheduled to come back pretty soon: Longshot. I don't know what it is about Longshot that I like so much, maybe it was because he got to date Dazzler, but I thought he was cool. The only strike against him is that he pretty much started the whole pouch revolution that continued into the 90's with his bandoleer of throwing knives. Other than that, he was a pretty cool character.

Deadpool #1.

Ok, we've been down for a few weeks. Sorry to anyone who reads this thing on a regular basis (my guess is that Chris and I are the only ones who are reading this, the rest of the hits we're getting are from random searches). Mainly, I stopped posting because I was tired of writing those reviews of the books I was buying. Anyways, I promise we'll try better.

In comic book news; Marvel released their previews for September, and that includes a sneak peak at the cover for Deadpool #1. Pretty awesome. You can read more about the issue on Marvel's site. I personally can't wait for September. Secret Invasion will be in full swing (including Secret Invasion: X-Men) and the new Deadpool series begins. I am a big fan of the 'Pool and it sounds like it's going to be totally rad.

Da-Da-Da-Da-Da-Da-Da-Da-Deadpool!

Marvel released an article about the new Deadpool series. I'm already adding it to my buy list. I found the part where he talks about Deadpool's role in the Secret Invasion to be very interesting. Very cryptic, but very interesting. Marvel is also releasing a Classic Deadpool Trade tomorrow. So it's good to see that they're not dumping the character and that they're actually backing him in another solo series.

Update 2/27/08 Part 2.

One last thing, which actually has me excited: Marvel released an article about Daniel Way's plans for Deadpool. It's kind of vague in a way, but that's to be expected because it's a new series. Anyways, they released the preview for Wolverine Origins #23 and it looks killer. Lots of smashy-smashy. I mean, Deadpool shoots at Logan with an RPG, how can you go wrong with that? Here are the images:

Update 2/11/08.

Interesting article about the New X-Men and the transition to Young X-Men. I still don't really understand why they're essentially rebooting and re-titling it, but there are a couple of series that they're doing that with as a result of the end of The Messiah Complex (Cable, X-Force), so I guess they're just on one of those reboot kicks that Marvel goes on from time to time to increase sales by publishing issues with #1 on the cover.

I just discovered the X-Men comic hub over at Marvel. It's kind of nice to have one place to keep you informed about all of the cross-over tie-ins because the way the last couple have gone, it can be daunting to keep track of all that.

Iron Man is getting ANOTHER title. I think we need another Iron Man comic like we need another comic starring Wolverine. Oh, wait a minute, Wolvie IS getting another book (it's a limited series). This is just like the early '90s all over again...

Finally, my Deadpool questions have been answered. He'll be in Wolverine Origins #22 this month and he's set to get his own series again later this year. Anyways, here's a preview of Wolverine Origins #22. Enjoy.
