Update 3/10/08

Ok, so Marvel released a ton of stuff since the last time I updated. First off, they have an article on the Secret Invasion and who the writers think are Skrulls. They also have all of the posters floating in between answers.

I guess this week is officially "X-Factor Week", even though when Marvel lists the events, it's only three days long. Oh, wait, they say that's just some of the stuff they have planned. You know what pisses me off? This cover. It's 2008, Marvel, no one wants Arcade back. Please stop.

They also released a picture from the new Hulk movie featuring William Hurt as General "Thunderbolt" Ross. I'm not that excited about the new Hulk movie. I'm going to reserve judgment until the release date gets closer.

They also released an article about the new Iron Man poster. It looks pretty awesome.

Update 3/6/08

Marvel released anther post in the Who Do You Trust? campaign. This one is pretty cool. I wonder how many more of these they're going to release.

They also have a farewell article about Mark Bagley. If you scroll down the have a cover gallery and he drew one of my all-time favorite covers: New Warriors #1. And he had a pretty good run on Thunderbolts.

Another cool article is the 10 Classically Cool Iron Man Toys. I don't really collect toys too much, but I am curious to see what they come out with for this Iron Man movie. Some of the stuff I've seen looks pretty cool. Especially the first silver armor toys. I might have to pick up some of those.

Update 3/5/08

Marvel posted an interesting article today entitled Would-Be X-Men. I'm a huge Quicksilver fan, so it's good to see him clocking in at #3. I actually can't complain too much about that list, so I'm not going to.

Marvel also posted some pictures from the new Hulk movie. You can see those here. I've heard some interesting stuff about the set and the amount of re-writes they've had, and nothing has been positive. But it's got Ed Norton, so I'm in. The first one had it's share of problems, but I didn't think it was all bad. Marvel's got a nice lineup of movies coming out with Iron Man, The Hulk 2 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine all coming out within the next year. Maybe it's time for me to buy some stock.

February 2008 Reads Part IV.

House of M: Avengers #5 This one was kind of a letdown, which is what I was fearing and kind of expecting. Of course when a series like this ends, there's probably going to be the feel good ending (check) with unresolved storylines (double-check) and an ending that kind of just trails off (check). The first four issues were really strong, so it was really disappointing to read the last issue. I guess if I ever re-read this series, I'll just read the first four issues and then pretend that the fifth one never happened. Kind of like the Godfather movies. I'm not comparing this series to the Godfather; I'm just noting the fact that the third Godfather movie totally sucked and was a giant letdown/disappointment.

Thunderbolts: International Incident One Shot. This one was very good, but since I haven't read the recent issues (they're still coming in the mail), I really don't understand why they are doing so many one-shots and not regular issues, seeing as they're delaying the regular issues. Maybe I just answered my own question (they're behind schedule on the normal issues). Anyways, yeah, this one was pretty good, but the one-shots don't seem to include the entire team, only certain members. The good thing is, it's not the same people in each one-shot, so you get a little bit of backstory and motivation for different characters. I guess that's also what the one-shot format is supposed to do; to help flesh out some of the characters. I am trying to buy a larger run of the Thunderbolts on eBay because this series really interests me.

X-Men Legacy #208 This one was interesting. It combined flashbacks with the current time-line and it was actually well done. I'm interested to see what happens next, there was kind of a big cliffhanger ending, with a Magneto sighting (that was the cliffhanger ending, sorry for the spoiler). It's also bringing back The Acolytes, which is pretty interesting because they've been gone for awhile if memory serves me. It's not like I was going to drop this title, because the X-Men are the entire reason I collect comics, I was just a little worried about where this particular series was headed. But there's no need to worry here, everything's alright and it's actually headed into very interesting territory.

I've got a pretty big list (for me) of stuff to buy tomorrow. Cable #1 (I hope it's not sold out by the time I get to my comic shop), Logan #1 (ANOTHER series starring Wolvie Marvel? What is this, the mid-90's?), Moon Knight #16, The Twelve #3 (still totally excited about this series), Uncanny X-Men #496 (I have low expectations for this one) and X-Force #2 (again, I hope it's not sold out by the time I get to the store).

In other nerdy news, Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons & Dragons, died today. I will pour out a healing potion for Gary tonight. Or a 40oz. Whatever I can get my hands on.

That's about it for today. The only other stuff that Marvel released on their site today was about the onsales for Wednesday and an article about the Darktower Midnight Release. I'll be back tomorrow with my reviews from last week.

Special Leap Year Edition!

Marvel released some promotional pictures for the Wolverine movie. You can see them here and here. I really want this to be a good movie, but as I've written before, it's got several things working against it in my opinion. We'll see how it turns out next year I guess.

More "Who Do You Trust" promotions, this time featuring everyone's favorite; Luke Cage. I love Luke Cage, he better not be a Skrull.

Another interesting article, and I'll admit that I haven't read all of it yet, but it's about the State of the Marvel Universe. I am interested in the King Sized Hulk that they mentioned. There are a ton of previews in that article, especially at the end. Enjoy.

Required Reading: Iron Man

Continuing Marvel's Iron Man assault, which will probably last at least until two months after the movie is released, they released an article online about the 10 Best Iron Man Collections. So you can read about that. Personally, I didn't really think the Armor Wars was all that great when I finally got around to reading it. But then again, I'm not the biggest Iron Man fan. So you may not want to take my word for it and check some of these out.

JUST A REMINDER: That new Iron Man movie trailer is on tonight's episode of LOST. I swear it's on tonight this time.

Another pretty decent article on Marvel.com: Top 11 Teen Characters. My only gripe is that A. Jubilee is on the list and B. She's ahead of X-23. Travesty of justice right there.
